The Past

I’ve thrown a paper airplane to the wind
it flew so freely, it was lost
I’ve run to traffic with my friends and foes
to find that valued, no one knows

Days were passing by
all I saw was none of mine
No one heard if I’m still alive
nor sought to see I’m still behind

The night freezes tremendously
I ran fast to free the scare
I found a shelter I didn’t care
just hide from the eyes of the great nightmare

At the sight of the dark embrace
everything seemed to be silent
Trees were dancing with the gentle whispers of the wind
for they were glad to see the light

A new day has come
I am in awe what I’ve become
I found my long lost valued one beside a cave
and the cave is where I live

I think of those consequences
I am the author of my mistake
Today, what’s left is what I am
Who’d know my life has just begun

5 Gut Instincts You Should Never Ignore

When people say they’re “listening to their gut,” they really mean that their intuition is guiding them in making a decision. We all have this innate ability to listen to that inner voice telling us not to go through with something, or that the person asking us for help might have ulterior motives, or that our childhood dream could actually become a fulfilling career choice in our adult life.

We can essentially decode this often indescribable gut feeling we get in certain situations, because that pang in your stomach, sudden bout of fatigue, or strong urge to help the person next to you can reveal more than you think.

HERE ARE 5 INSTINCTS YOU DON’T WANT TO IGNORE:

1. “I DON’T FEEL GOOD.”

If something in your body doesn’t feel right, you should listen to this feeling before it gets any worse. A lot of people ignore subtle signs from their bodies and end up dealing with a much larger problem than they originally planned for. Your body instinctively knows when something is off balance, and those initial warning signs warrant your acknowledgment and further investigating to find out what your intuition is trying to tell you. Don’t ever hesitate to go to your wellness advocate if your inner voice starts to scream at you to take action – the human body communicates to us surprisingly often through the power of intuition.

On another note, pay attention to how you feel every time you interact with someone. Do you feel drained, anxious, or depressed? These feelings have come to the surface for a reason – by listening to yourself intuitively, you can determine which people in your life suck your energy dry, and who actually makes you feel alive.

Your intuition speaks to you in many ways, so never ignore any “off” feelings you get, no matter how subtle.

2. “THIS SITUATION SEEMS DANGEROUS.”

Have you ever seen the Final Destination movies, where one person out of a group of friends gets intense visions before something bad happens? These movies, whether intentionally or not, portray the uncanny role that intuition can play in perilous situations.

For instance, maybe on your weekly trip to the grocery store, someone meets your gaze and you instantly get an uneasy feeling about them. Let’s say they start to follow you discreetly around the store, and then you watch them go outside without buying anything. However, they don’t leave; instead, they wait outside the store, and you intuitively feel that by going to your car, you will put yourself in a potentially life-threatening situation. While this person may not have directly endangered you, your intuition commands you to not leave the store without telling the manager or calling the police first.

The fight-or-flight response in humans was designed to warn us of immediate danger, and move us to act on that feeling. While our gut instincts can have flaws, you should listen to them regardless – they might just save your life.

3. “I SHOULD HELP THAT PERSON.”

Gut instincts don’t always indicate something negative. Since we all originate from the same source, we have direct ties to each other and can sense when someone needs help. We have the powerful ability to read other people’s energy by evaluating their facial expressions, body language, or just how we feel around that person. Have you ever noticed how everyone scrambles to offer whatever help they can after a natural or man-made disaster? This strong desire to assist our fellow humans comes prewired in our evolution as a species; after all, when humans lived off the land, they depended on one another for survival. Some of them gathered wood for shelter and fire, while others wanted to help find food for themselves and others. They helped one another not just out of necessity, but because of a deep understanding that humans need to feel cared for and protected.

Offer help even if the person in question doesn’t ask for it – nonverbal cues can offer much more insight than words in these types of situations.

4. “THIS COMES NATURALLY TO ME.”

Overthinking can often cause problems that didn’t even exist in the first place, especially in regard to your natural talents. Maybe you have spent weeks practicing your lines for a play, and have all the hand motions, inflections in your tone, and the whole thing down pat. Then, when you get on stage for your final practice, you suddenly forget everything you worked so hard practicing. Or, maybe you have become the star player on your baseball team, but your mind runs on overdrive and puts you under pressure, making you miss every ball pitched to you at home base.

People with extraordinary talents commonly choke when it’s time for them to perform, and all of it stems from letting their minds run haywire. They pay too much attention to their thoughts, rather than letting their instincts take over. If something comes naturally to you, distract your mind with something other than the task at hand, such as a song or memory that makes you happy, and allow your instincts to take over instead.

5. “THIS JUST FEELS RIGHT.”

Whether it applies to changing careers, picking your next boyfriend or girlfriend, or deciding where to live, your intuition actually plays a bigger role than rational thinking in these decisions. When you make these life-altering choices, it mostly boils down to how you feel about them. Think about it: we all just want to feel good, so we add and subtract things from our life to align with that feeling. If your career earns you $100,000 a year but makes you miserable, would you stick with it rather than take your dream job that pays $40,000? Your gut would probably tell you to do what makes you happy and take the lower paying job rather than keep one that makes you feel dead inside.

When something feels right, a lightbulb goes off inside you and it doesn’t really require much cognitive ability – it comes easily to you. Listen to your intuition next time you make an important decision – it will help you choose the right path.

10 Dream Symbols You Should Never Ignore

For centuries we have been fascinated by dreams and their meaning. In the end of the nineteenth century psychotherapist Carl Jung, best known for archetypes and the collective unconscious, began to conclude that looking into dreams was opening a door into consciousness and the spirit world. However, there is a science behind what happens during sleep. A research team of scientists at the ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratory in Kyoto, Japan, has explored brain scans while identifying the visual imagery of dreams. They concluded that we watch our dreams in the same manner that we watch our waking world.

In order to analyze the dreams we must also study how we participate in our daily activities. Are dreams a replay on the visual stimuli of what we perceive in waking hours or messages of guidance from beyond? What do these symbols mean? How do we interpret them and analyze them to give us messages?

HERE ARE 10 THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER IGNORE ABOUT YOUR DREAMS

1. FLYING

Dreams of flying often indicate the need to reach ambition. Where are you going? How are you getting there? Are you having trouble navigating through life? Flying dreams tend to leave us recharged when we wake. There is a feeling of freedom and being able to accomplish anything in our way.

2. WATERFALLS

When we dream of water it usually conveys the emotional state of the mind. Water symbolizes cleansing and purity. To dream of waterfalls is a great omen. This represents new beginnings as the old is washed out.

If you see waterfalls in your dreams, ask yourself these questions: Is the waterfall a small one or a large one? How are you perceiving your obstacles? Is the waterfall in a dark jungle or a beautiful beach?

3. TEETH

Dreams with teeth are very common. Not all teeth dreams symbolize aging. Pulling of teeth symbolizes something that needs to come out, while rotten teeth symbolize the holding of fear and anxiety. Dreaming of falling teeth are the most typical of all teeth dreams. They are usually derived to new situations that cause stress: a new job, fear of loss, lack of power in a relationship, or lies that are being kept hidden.

If you see teeth in your dreams, ask yourself these questions: How do you feel about your teeth? We use our teeth to nourish the body. How are we nourishing our lives?

4. DEATH

Dreaming with death is more common than most people admit. As morbid as it feels, to dream of death usually symbolizes the ending of something. Death is the termination of ego parts. There is the death of anxiety and anger. The death of a situation. There is the death of an idea allowing for the birth of another. Dreaming of death or dying can be a psychological aspect of working tremendous changes in emotions.

If you see death in your dreams, ask yourself these questions: Where you the one who died? Was it a loved one? These dreams can also be guidance from a departed loved one trying to give comfort.

5. PREGNANT

Dreaming of being pregnant symbolizes a major growth and development. It can be geared to future projects and desires.

If you visualize pregnancy in your dreams, ask yourself these questions: What are you trying to create? What transformation are you encountering in your waking life? Are you pregnant with possibilities? Pregnant dreams can bring fruitful ideas for a job or relationship.

 6. HOUSES

Dreams of houses symbolize the self and the different aspects of personality. Depending on the type of house or the different rooms the interpretation can deepen. Houses are about security and comfort. An attic symbolizes hidden memories, while a basement can mean intuition and the unconscious mind.

If you see houses in your dreams, ask yourself: How are you taking care of your body? How do you perceive yourself out in the world?

7. MONEY

Money dreams can allow us to wake with such gratitude. Dreaming with money is about luck and how we perceive our self-worth. Winning the lottery symbolizes a change in lifestyle while dreaming of giving money away is a fear of loss. Money dreams pertain to the core of our emotions towards the abundance and prosperity. Financial stability or losses are often stress factors in our lives.

If you see money in your dreams, ask yourself: Did you lose your job? Are you in debt? What would you do if you won the lottery?  The relationship with finances is one that rarely leaves the mind during waking moments. Money symbolizes the flow of life.

8. ADULTERY

Dreaming of adultery signifies sexual desires and urges that are repressed or are needing to be expressed. These type of dreams also carry abandonment and fears, self-worth issues, and an unconscious acceptance of a problematic relationship.

If adultery appears in your dreams, ask yourself: Are you afraid of losing a loved one? Are you unhappy in your own relationship? How do you feel about your body and desires?

9. FIRE

Fire dreams can have several meanings depending on the context of the dream. Seeing fire in a distance symbolizes desire and transformation, while playing with fire can be a warning of risky activities. If you dream of starting a fire it symbolizes anger that is being repressed.

Ask yourself: Do you avoid risky situations? Do you spend your day putting out fires?

10. NAKED

Dreams of being naked are very common. They connect to our fear of being exposed. If the dream is about someone else being naked it signifies “the naked truth” of a situation or foretell an illicit affair. It can also mean the loss of respect. Nakedness is about accepting flaws and imperfections. Just like in waking moments it is about how much is exposed to the world of the self.

If you are naked in a dream, ask yourself: Are you afraid of being seen for who you are? Are you over exposing yourself?

Dreams represent episodes of our lives that can be analyzed in millions of ways, and the dreamer is the only one who can figure out the true emotional state of the dream. These are only a few suggestions into the world of night visions; the mind, body and spirit are intertwined and how we perceive the self plays over and over during our sleep.

The mind will try desperately to dictate, through short visions, how our emotions are being played. Anxiety or joy can change the way we sleep. It’s up to us to truly be aware how we carry ourselves during waking ours.

“Dreams…are invariably seeking to express something that the ego does not know and does not understand.” – Carl Jung

A Great Woman

On January 12, 2016 at 5:25 AM:
Death has ended your life on earth. My tears mean I am and will be missing you.

I want to say sorry for being so incapable of helping you see, hear, and feel the things that you’ve always wanted.

I didn’t know how to help you through the pain. It was so hurtful to see you very weak and dying. But I was able to carry a little of your boundless burden by knowing what was inside: your anger, your discomforts, your silence, your dreams.

You will always be Mommy. I won’t see you anymore but I can still watch you stitch my torn polo in my dreams. I can’t touch you anymore, but I can still feel you in my heart. I won’t hear you answer my question, “kumusta mami?!”, but I can always listen to your voice I recorded through my phone without you knowing it.

For a great woman who has been bowed and whose hands have been a mark of hard work and kinship, I SALUTE YOU! God will crown your endeavors in heaven.

Yours with a prayer,
RJ

P.S. You are more beautiful in this picture than when I saw you a while ago.

Invictus

Invictus
BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Happy New Year!
